We’ll kick things off with a continental breakfast, coffee, introductions and a little time to dream up your Upcyclepalooza game plan.
At 10:00 AM, we’ll head to the antique mall for an upcycling treasure hunt! Wander the aisles with us as we hunt for interesting textiles and vintage finds
Then it’s back to the studio for a full day of sewing and creating! Make a hoodie, mittens, shorts, box top—or whatever sparks your creativity. Bring your ideas, your thrifted treasures, and your creative spirit. There’s no set project and no pressure—just one glorious day to sew, experiment and have fun.
Lunch is included, so settle in, make new friends, share ideas and spend the day doing what you love.
Come ready to thrift. Leave with one of a kind creations, new skills, new friends and a whole lot of upcycled goodness!
Supplies to bring-
Sewing Machine- working and that you are familiar with. Don't forget your power cord and foot control. Extra needles and bobbins.
Sewing supplies- scissors, pins, clips, thread, measuring tape etc.
Textiles - preferably preloved, for your creations. If you are not sure what will work for what you would like to make, shoot Karen an email.
Optional to bring-
Serger - working and that you are familiar with. Not necessary, but could come in handy.
Anything that you would like to destash or swap.
Anything you would like to add to the embellishment bar- buttons, patches, orphan quilt blocks, trim etc
An item or two that you would like to embellish- jeans, shirt, shacket, jacket etc
What Karen provides-
- Sewing patterns and instructions for - hoodie with variations, box top with variations, woven upcycled mittens, able to continue creating long after the retreat! An embellishment bar for embellishing jeans, jackets etc.
