Spectacular Savanna Quilt Pattern by Elizabeth Hartman

The animals of the African Savanna are amazing and iconic and I had so much fun turning some of them into patchwork blocks! Make a 64” x 84” Large Quilt with an Elephant, Lion, Rhino, Gazelle, Wildebeest, Hippo, Zebra, Giraffe, and Leaf borders, or a 47” x 54” Small Quilt with an Elephant, Lion, Hippo, Zebra, Giraffe, and Rhino. Everything is made using conventional patchwork techniques. All pieces are square or rectangular except the rhino’s horn, which is made using a cutting guide and a shortcut piecing technique similar to Lisa the Unicorn’s horn or Norm and Nanette’s hats.

The blocks are made using a combination of fat quarters and fat eighths and the pattern includes a detailed fabric guide. You can use the guide to duplicate my fabrics exactly, or to plan a fantastic fabric combination of your own.
